At the June 2025 town meeting, the town voted in favor of having the Affordable Housing Committee work to implement a Short-Term Rental Ordinance.

On February 26th the Phippsburg Affordable Housing Committee will host an information gathering session where townspeople, the Select Board, and Planning Board are invited to share their questions, concerns, and suggestions about short-term rentals. 

What is a Short-Term rental? 

Short-term rentals are properties rented to guests for a short stay through a service such as AirB&B, VRBO, a rental agency, or private rental. 

A Short-Term Rental Ordinance is a local law that sets rules for renting out homes or rooms for short stays. 

Many communities in Maine are working to create a short-term rental ordinance. A short-term rental ordinance helps towns manage the growth of short-term rentals and helps maintain a healthy balance of full-time townspeople and seasonal renters.
