Check out "The Phippsburg Tidal" — a blog by our Island Institute Fellow Kate!
Hello!
As you likely know, I’m part of the Phippsburg Marine Resources Working Group, a team of local folks tackling working waterfront matters. This brief ‘hello’ is an invitation to subscribe to our new monthly blog The Phippsburg Tidal.
Every month, I’ll be sending out a narrative blog, interview or photo essay. While this dispatch won’t cover all that my colleagues and I are up to, I hope it will provide a sort of informative wormhole, if you will, into the local marine spaces that shape our lives.
This first blog is a reflection on conversations I’ve had with Robin Wallace. She has been a tremendous guide since I’ve arrived. It’s been nice to reminisce about working on the water with her.
Here is a link to that first blog and a new website: The Phippsburg Tidal.
I’ll confess that this blog was my own idea–I’ll take every chance I can to write about marine economies, their people and places. I’ll also note that though I’ve worked in fisheries for a while, I’m new to Phippsburg, which means I might miss some crucial information or I might get something wrong completely. If so, I trust you’ll let me know. At the end of the day, this blog is meant to spark reflection and conversation. If you have thoughts or questions, please get in touch!
Finally, thank you again for supporting our marine community and, of course, for reading. Please subscribe here: SUBSCRIBE. If you think someone you know might enjoy this blog, please forward this email to them! I’m so glad to be here, working on the causes and projects that your collective voices have underscored as key to Phippsburg’s sustainable, healthy future.
Warmly and with gratitude,
Kate
